Deer Logic and Where Roses Take Root were exhibited in Venice as part of RITUALS — ANIMA MUNDI 2026, presented by ITSLIQUID Group in collaboration with ACIT Venice at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello.

Held from 20 May to 4 June 2026, RITUALS formed the first appointment of ANIMA MUNDI 2026, an international programme exploring the vital energy that connects all forms of existence: body and soul, nature and humanity, the visible and invisible.

Within this context, Deer Logic and Where Roses Take Root enter into dialogue with themes of embodiment, survival, instinct, femininity, and transformation. Both works centre the body as a site of ritual: one caught in the stillness of fear, the other blooming through beauty, injury, and symbolic rupture.

Shown within the historic Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello, the pieces were positioned among contemporary works in a space where classical architecture and modern psychological experience meet.

Deer Logic (2025)

In Deer Logic, Cox examines the instinctive stillness of fear — the moment when the body, faced with threat, chooses not to fight or flee but to freeze. The figure, crouched and lit by a faint, divine glow, raises antlers to her head in a futile act of identification: if she becomes the deer, perhaps she will understand its survival. Or perhaps she will learn how to surrender.

Where Roses Take Root (2025)

Where Roses Take Root is a visceral exploration of beauty’s relationship to suffering, an image that is both tender and macabre. A young woman, eyes closed and lips parted as if caught between breath and surrender, blooms from within. Blood and roses spill from her chest in the same motion, indistinguishable from one another. The petals appear to pulse where her heart once was.
