Berry Bunny (2024)

Berry Bunny began as an experiment in scale — a small, accessible artwork designed for sticker format, yet treated with the same painterly attention as a larger piece. Its simplicity invites familiarity, using charm and texture to create an emotional connection without words.

The piece balances realism with softness. The subject’s direct gaze, framed by the wide pink hat, combines natural detail with a gentle touch of whimsy. While humorous in tone, the painting still explores form, light, and surface, proving that even miniature art can carry presence and care. The circular composition reinforces intimacy, creating a contained world that feels personal and complete.

Though created for a lighthearted product line, Berry Bunny continues my interest in how art can function across different contexts — from gallery works to collectibles. It represents the meeting point between painterly craft and the joy of small-scale storytelling.

Painted digitally using a textured impasto brush set to emulate traditional oils, Berry Bunny uses short, feathered strokes to define the fur and softer glazing to model the light on the hat. The colour palette blends warm sienna tones with rose and muted green to evoke an early-spring atmosphere. The circular crop was chosen to echo traditional miniature portraiture, turning a playful subject into a refined, tactile design suitable for small-format reproduction, such as stickers or charms.
